The ensemble of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble boasts some excellent Roma musicians who – as few remaining artists in Hungary – can still interpret the rich traditions of urban Gipsy music now in the 21st century. The venue of the dance event is a symbolic space: concert halls, restaurants, bars and village pubs, etc. Besides traditional folk music, the musical texture of the performance gives room to the traditional urban Gispy music, the Hungarian nóta (composed folk-like songs), the Csárdás, jazz and Gispy worldmusic as well, showcasing the musical virtuosity and rich repertoire uniquely characteristic for Hungary-based Roma musicians. The varied dance scenes render the large-scale musical tableau even more diverse and colourful.
