New innovation: Folk_ME

Traditional folk music content in digital form

Traditional folk music content in digital form? It is not a dream any more, thanks to a new innovation: Folk_ME. This versatile online educational toolkit makes traditional folk music content accessible and provides a deeper insight into the diversity, history and importance of folk music genres within Europe's cultural heritage. It offers unique opportunities not only for teachers and students, but also for amateur musicians and the wider public. The programme not only presents the diversity and history of folk music genres, but also provides a bridge between nations in folk music education, promoting understanding and acceptance of cultural diversity.

What does it contain?

The platform offers state-of-the-art video tutorials, audio clips recorded on separate tracks for each instrument, lyrics, sheet music and original source materials, allowing users to become active participants in the authentic performance of folk music, as well as stay actively involved in the learning process and also the performance of it.

International music education

Folk_ME enables dialogue between different folk music traditions. By using the platform, teachers and students can gain insights into the musical traditions of other peoples, their characteristics, instruments and performance methods, enriching educational content and promoting the development of musical competences.

Night of Museums in the Hungarian Heritage House

This year, too, the Hungarian Heritage House will open its doors on the Night of Museums. Here, the past will become an experience and tradition will take on new meaning. The Buda Vigadó building will be open for exploration from the attic to the cellar.

Busós at the airport

We are in the middle of the carnival season, and the Busójárás festival in Mohács is fast approaching, which will fill the city in southern Hungary with life for six days at the end of February. This folk custom, which marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring, will appear not only in Mohács this year, but also at the capital's airport.

Just gone festivalling

The festival season is in full swing, and our team is also joining the summer vacationers: the institution will be closed between July 28 and August 18, 2025.
