International Professional Guests at the Swallows' Flight Festival

International Professional Guests at the Swallows' Flight Festival and on a Study Tour

At the invitation of the Hungarian Heritage House, 15 international professional guests from seven countries attended the Swallows' Flight Festival.

The group consisted of cultural heritage experts, cultural managers, leaders of professional organizations, a specialist journalist, researchers specializing in folk music and crafts, and university lecturers. The guests participated in the festival’s full program, ranging from professional presentations and roundtable discussions to stage performances, concerts, storytelling, and even a a traditional Hungarian dance house (táncház). A joint professional workshop organized with staff from the House of Traditions also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and establish new professional connections.

The international program continued with a four-day study tour, in collaboration with the House of Traditions’ network partners.

The participants visited Mátészalka, Szatmárnémeti, Válaszút, Méra, Cluj-Napoca, Bánffyhunyad, Oradea, and Békéscsaba, where they learned about the living traditions of local communities, regional forms of folk music, folk dance, and traditional crafts, as well as methods for preserving and passing on cultural heritage.

The program included professional lectures, music, dance, and craft demonstrations that actively involved the participants, an exhibition, and culinary events.

These gatherings provided an opportunity to showcase the work of Hungarian and cross-border professional partners to an international audience, to exchange methodological expertise and experiences, and to lay the groundwork for new European collaborations. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

We would like to thank our partners who contributed to making the programme possible:
