Ördögkatlan Festival (‘Devil’s Cauldron’)

Villánykövesd, a small settlement originating from the Árpád Era provides a worthwhile background for the programs covering the folk tradition of the Carpathian Basin. The stage set up on the main square of the village will be, amongst others, one of the venues of the children’s concert series of the 15-year-old Ági Szalóki, and in the evening, the singer will give a concert accompanied by female singers from Mezőség. In the stage program of Teleki Liget, the children’s performance of Csavar Theatre of Csallóköz can also be seen. Children and adults with children’s soul can try their skills all day long with the spatial toys of Fabatka folk playground, try the basket carousel or the manual grinding mill.

The protected, two-storey monumental series of cellars is one of the most spectacular monument complex of the country, and the small cellars will be the venue for exhibitions of craftsmen’s objects and photo exhibitions. At the cellars, one can admire the expertise of old crafts at craft shows, and it will also be possible to prepare jewellery and utility items with various folk handicraft techniques.

The full-day program flow, featuring folk tradition in its entirety, will become complete with dance and singing lessons, tales for kids and adults, free university lectures and dance houses lasting until dawn.
