The long-lost cousins - the zither, the tambourine and the kobza - meet in the music of Pengetős (Plunking) Trio and they have a lot to discuss. They all play instruments that are related to each other and are individually well-known, however, the Trio’s repertoire is absolutely unique thanks to the previously unknown consonance of these three instruments. The band reconstructs and remakes folk music heritage to its own image with an open mind, creativity and humility at the same time.

The members of the band are all committed to authentic Hungarian folk music. They regularly perform on stage in Hungary and abroad and they also teach music. Alexandra Berta is a Junior Prima Award holding artist, teacher at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest; Zalán Csenki is Junior Prima Award holding artist and a teacher at Béla Bartók Conservatoire as well as at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest; Bálint Horváth is a student of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest.
The Trio represented Hungary and Hungarian folk music in the Czech Republic at Euroradio Folk Festival, in Italy at Festa Ungherese, in Austria at Musik der Völker Festival. In addition to giving concerts they also pass on Hungarian folk music to preschool and young schoolchildren in an entertaining form presenting their instruments as part of a children’s programme.
