Karagöz Folk Dance Ensemble was formed in 1988 as a folk dance based repertory ensemble in Bursa, one of the leading cities in the history of Türk traditional culture, taking into account the inadequacy of conscious formations for folk dances. In our city, which has a deep-rooted cultural tradition, the ensemble was created in order to create a continuous generation acquainted with folk culture, to present Türkiye's ethnic, folkloric richness and dance culture through organizations, by making use of contemporary staging opportunities, and to contribute to the development of a common urban culture and citizenship consciousness in this way. The ensemble's repertoire includes traditional dances compiled from almost every region of Türkiye, as well as professional stage performances based on ethnic dances.
The Török Tilla Folk Experience band takes part in the show, led by the Junior Prima award-winning, multi-instrumentalist folk singer and songwriter Tilla Török, whose art is inspired by the folk music of the Hungarian and Steppe peoples, and whose concerts are made exciting by the colorful folk instruments and the unique instrumentation. Turkish guest artist Alican Polat will be contributing as a guest.
The program series takes place within the framework of the Theater Olympics 2023.
