This year, the Hungarian Heritage House will again open its doors on the Night of Museums. Here, the past becomes an experience, and tradition takes on new meaning.
You can get to know Buda Vigado during an exciting tour led by the management of the Hungarian Heritage House. Five of our exhibitions can be viewed on this day as part of a guided tour. Craft demonstrations—including weaving, felt-making, and furniture painting—will be available throughout the day, allowing visitors to try kneading dough, felting, and embroidery. Afternoon activities for children and families will include various games: memory games, dominoes, matrices, "Fit it in!", "Hide it!", "Investigate!", "Put it together!", as well as a lottery game, board colouring, difference finding, and puzzles. In the evening, there will be a fashion show titled "Circling" with the dancers of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, followed by a folk music concert and a dance house session.
Attendance at activities will be accepted on the spot, in order of arrival. As free places are limited, it is worth arriving on time.
The Night of Museums can be attended wearing wristbands.
Wristband price:
• For adults: 3000 HUF
• For children (6-18 years): 1500 HUF
Wristbands can be purchased in person, in advance, at our ticket office without any handling fee, on Tuesday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Online purchase is available until 9 am on Saturday, 20 June 2026. After that, wristbands can only be bought in person at ticket offices.
We reserve the right to change the event programme.

Handicrafts in Atrium - Community Felting
Community felting is a truly liberating creative experience: participants work together to create floor felt, lay out the pattern collectively, and then knead the piece with coordinated effort. Anyone can join in the process, and the work is guided by an experienced master, so both beginners and advanced participants can find their own joy in it.
The program is designed for those who wish to experience the community-building power of craftsmanship and would like to be part of the creation of a large, collaborative work of art.
There is no limit on the number of participants in the program.

Embroidery Workshop with Ilka Pálmai
Flowers not only preserve the beauty of nature, but also convey messages, memories, and stories of women. Let’s explore together the rich world of floral embroidery motifs: the hidden meanings of roses, tulips, and vines, and how embroidery has evolved from mere decoration into a form of self-expression and a part of collective memory! Colors, patterns, and stories—all in one special evening.
Pasta-Making Workshop - Let's Make Pasta Together!
With the help of pasta maker Gabriella Szivós, we’ll mix, stir, sift, and knead, and learn how to easily make our own delicious pasta at home. We’ll cap off the pasta-making session with a shared meal, where we’ll enjoy the freshly made pasta together with tomato sauce, basil, cheese, and plenty of joy. Our workshop leader will also share recipes for quick, incredibly delicious sauces, which we can take home in our imaginary bags.
Registration is available only on-site, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program is limited to 15 participants.

Hungarian State Folk Ensemble: In the Spotlight - Fashion Theater
A Unique Dialogue Between Fashion and Tradition on the Stage of the House of Traditions
How do tradition and contemporary art intersect in the worlds of fashion and theater? We can find out on the stage during this unique performance. This special fashion show is not merely a parade of clothes; it also brings to life a deeper dialogue between tradition and modernity on stage.
Registration is available only on-site, and seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program is open to 100 participants.
Folk Music Concert – Viktória Havay and the Horsa Banda
The band, made up of musicians from Komárom and Budapest, aims to perform Transylvanian folk music in its original form, exactly as it was played in the villages a few generations ago. They strive to learn the folk music of Transylvania’s Mezőség, Kalotaszeg, and Gyimes regions as authentically as possible from earlier recordings by folk music collectors and from their own recordings.
The band’s older members once had the opportunity to play alongside Transylvania’s most famous peasant musicians. They pass on these experiences to the band’s talented young musicians. Thus, even in its operation, the band resembles traditional village folk ensembles, where the father typically taught his sons to play. This is how this wonderful music has been refined over centuries, taking on such a perfect form that it makes it pointless for today’s hurried people to alter it.
The members of the band are: Viktória Horsa (singer), István Horsa (violin), Máté Vörös (contrabass), and Bence Joó (double bass).
There is no limit on the number of participants for this program.
In case of bad weather, the program will take place in the Atrium.
Dance House and Dance Classes
Are you a fan of Hungarian folk dance, do you often go to dance houses yourself, and do you love the excitement that surrounds you there? Or have you never tried it, and do you always stand on the edge of the floor watching others enviously?
In either case, this is the place for you! Both beginners and advanced dancers can have a great time at our dance house, which this time will be brought to life by the music of the Horsa Banda, and you can learn the dance steps from Norbert Busai and Zsuzsanna Busai.
There is no limit on the number of participants.
In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Atrium.
