For some years now, the Little Black Contest has garnered great success not only among folk artisans, folk artists, designers and individual creators but also among the general public, who can see the folk-inspired dress accessories and modern outfits matching the "Little Black" in large-scale fashion shows with unique visual and sound effects.
This year, the show focuses on the influence of motifs, techniques and forms used in 19th-century fashion and home decoration of the aristocracy on folk art. The accompanying inspirational material from the time of the increasingly popular home industry movement was selected from the collection of the Hungarian Museum of Applied Folk Art. We invited the participants to design dress accessories and modern outfits using the motifs, shapes and technical solutions of these works of art.
Following the award ceremony of the contest – with the help of choreographer Szilvia Nemes – the live music show presented the harmony of modern fashion and traditional approach innovatively through the competing works of art and the inspirational material.
