The Gyimesek region is located in the valleys of the Eastern Carpathians, east of Csíkszereda. Here, by the small streams flowing into the Tatros River, live the Gyimes Csángó Hungarians of typically Roman Catholic denomination. They live mainly from livestock and logging. Because of the closed nature of the region and the community, their culture is very well preserved to this day. Their songs, dances, costumes and customs have preserved the traits of the old cultural heritage. The representatives of the Gyimes rural culture are the Virics Band and the traditionalist dancers led by Ferenc Sára: they aim to show how the Gyimes Csángó Hungarians used to have fun!
