María Antonia Fernández, known artistically as "La Toñi", was born in Almería in 1986, into an Andalusian gypsy family who cultivated and practiced flamenco songs as a tradition. Toñi Fernández belongs to an innovative generation of female gypsy singers (cante), with a mature and yet soft and feminine voice. She is a regular performer on the professional flamenco scene in Spain and in the most prestigious flamenco clubs and festivals. With her dedication and training in flamenco, she keeps its traditions alive and up to date, introducing them into today's artistic life.
