Megidézett Kárpátalja

Thence and over the Passes

The performance shows for the first time in the history of Hungarian folk dance the colourful and rich traditional culture of the nations living in Eastern Carpathia as well as in its beyond, Transcarpathia: Hungarians, Ukrainians, Ruthenes, Romanians, Gipsies, and Jews. It presents all that is common in these nations’ folklore as well as all their ethnic characteristics. The emphasis, however, is on their common roots, revealing the necessary similarities that result from a shared historical past.

Passing on tradition, getting to know the language of folklore both our own and that of neighbouring nations grants the possibility of new encounters and of establishing our identity. Theatre provides a mirror to these chance encounters. This mirror is a pleasure to behold: it provides a reflection for those who create it and to those who will experience the state of inspired acceptance in the silence of the audience.
