Treasures of Felvidék (Northland)

The exhibition “Treasures of Felvidék” consists of selected submissions from the 2018 and 2019 competitions of the Association of Hungarian Folk Artists in Slovakia. These competitions were announced by the Association of Hungarian Folk Artists in Slovakia and the Hungarian Heritage House Network - the Forum of Hungarian Traditional Craft Arts in Slovakia and Felvidék Region -, within the framework of the nation-wide rolling exhibition cycle “Hungarian Folk Arts in the Felvidék Region 2019”. The primary aim of this exhibition is to continue the successful creative art series launched in 2018, as well as to offer artistic inspiration, provide professional help and guidance, and furthermore, to create an adequate forum for the introduction and further propagation of traditional craftsmen from the Felvidék (Northland) region. The competition did not stipulate territorial limitations. Submissions included artworks featuring or utilizing folk motifs of particular regions, but “reimagined” objects were also allowed.
Works selected for the exhibition, provided to the Hungarian Heritage House by the Museum of Léva (Levice), are a results of a two-year period.
